Ministry Description |
We are not looking for someone to recreate the church of decades past or to offer quick fixes for challenges facing congregations everywhere. Rather, we seek a pastor who will faithfully shepherd a smaller congregation while helping us thoughtfully explore new possibilities for ministry, connection, and outreach. We look for leadership that combines compassion, spiritual depth, openness to new ideas and a willingness to walk alongside us as we discern what God is calling us to become in this next chapter of our life together. For nearly seventy years, our church has sought to be a faithful presence in Honolulu through worship, fellowship, service, and care for our community, within and beyond the church. Like many mainline congregations, we experienced strong growth during the postwar decades and gradual decline over the last two generations, with the Covid pandemic accelerating existing trends. We seek a settled, full-time pastor for our "smaller and seasoned" congregation, yet one that remains active, generous, caring and committed to one another and to the ministry of the church. |
