The First Congregational Church of Thetford is a progressive, Open and Affirming congregation with a rich history and an enduring commitment to thoughtful Christian faith, compassionate service, and social justice. As we enter a period of pastoral transition, we see this as an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and discernment. We hope to strengthen our shared sense of purpose, deepen our spiritual lives, expand opportunities for all generations to participate in the life of the church, and continue responding with compassion to the needs of our community. We envision a congregation that remains firmly rooted in the teachings of Jesus while continually growing in faith, hospitality, justice, and service. We hope to emerge from the interim period with renewed energy, strengthened lay leadership, a clear sense of God's call, and a shared vision that prepares us to welcome our next settled pastor. To help us reach that future, we seek an Interim Minister who is an experienced guide through times of transition—someone who listens deeply, values collaboration, encourages honest conversation, and provides compassionate pastoral care. We hope for a pastor who is intellectually curious, spiritually grounded, and comfortable serving a congregation that embraces diverse theological perspectives while seeking common purpose in Christ. Most of all, we seek a faithful companion who will walk beside us, help us celebrate our past, discern God's leading in the present, and prepare us with confidence and hope for the future. |
