Ministry Description |
West Newbury Congregational Church is a resilient and inclusive community that has welcomed 18 new members over the last five years. We are looking for a Three-Quarter Time Settled Minister to work alongside us as we strive to be the community Jesus Christ calls us to be. Our church is a "beacon of hope" in our rural community, known for a living faith, deep mutual care, and a commitment to being Open and Affirming. Who We Seek: We seek a minister with relational warmth and a sense of humor who can provide engaging, thought-provoking sermons that connect Holy Scripture to our daily lives. Our ideal leader is an attentive communicator and active listener, comfortable with the UCC’s Open and Affirming values, and capable of navigating the unique needs of a small, rural aging congregation. Scope of Work & Goals: In this 3/4 time role, the minister will: Provide Pastoral Care: Support our aging congregation and wider community through visitation and spiritual counseling. Lead Faith Formation: Work to restore our Christian Education program and find new ways to attract and engage youth and young families. Enhance Community Vitality: Collaborate with us to make our church more inviting to those not yet part of our fellowship, including expanding outreach through media and community partnerships. Foster Spiritual Growth: Welcome doubts and questions, providing a safe environment for exploration and a continued focus on our vibrant music ministry. Compensation & Support: We offer a total support package of $80,000, which meets conference guidelines. A well-maintained, recently updated 4-bedroom parsonage is available in a beautiful pastoral setting. We are financially stable, supported by a robust endowment and a generous, active membership dedicated to sustainability and growth. |
