Ministry Description Lyndale UCC is a continually evolving, progressive congregation with a deep history in our community. In 2010 our evolution brought us into a unique three-way covenant sharing a building with two other congregations as SpringHouse Ministry Center. This allows us to focus on our ministry in a sustainable facility. We share some ecumenical programs such as children’s faith and baptisms. Our congregation has a strong social justice bent as well as being a spiritual home for those in the LGBTQ+ community. Our members include a significant number of seminary-educated and ordained pastors and chaplains, both active and retired. In 2015 we entered a new ministry venture by starting the Center for Sustainable Justice (CSJ), which focuses on local and global social justice issues and is staffed by a part time Pastor for Justice Ministry. We are located in South Minneapolis, a vibrant, urban community that is racially, economically, and religiously diverse. Our bikeable and walkable community includes world class art museums, lakes, abundant parks, theaters, two seminaries, and several colleges including the University of Minnesota. Lyndale UCC is seeking a pastor who will take primary responsibility for worship, pastoral care and administrative leadership of the church while working collaboratively with the congregation and staff, including the Pastor for Justice Ministry and SpringHouse community. This pastor will be a compassionate pastoral care giver who creates an atmosphere of welcome for all, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC communities and people who are differently abled. They will be a person of spiritual and intellectual depth who has the ability to articulate Christian faith in ways that are relevant in the modern world, as well as having organizational skills to both lead and collaborate with other leaders.
