Ministry Description |
We are a small church in a rural community in an area of rapid growth. We are currently being served by a Transitional Minister with a 6-month renewable contract. One challenge we are facing is how to reach out to new people as a church. At the same time, we are challenged by the demographics of having a large proportion of older people in our congregation. We feel called to re-engage less active members of our congregation and bring new people into our faith community. We are trying to focus on opportunities to have fellowship with each other besides Sunday mornings in Church services. Once a month we have a pot luck or a Sunday Lunch out. We are discussing other ways to engage the congregation by having a Sunday breakfast, small group gatherings in homes, etc. We have not had small children regularly for a while but have decided to start having someone available to take the kids after the children's sermon out to play together while the parents are able to stay and listen to the sermon. We have a calling to try to bring the congregation closer not just on Sunday mornings and to also involve the community. |
