Ministry Description |
We are seeking a full-time settled pastor (for a term of 5 years with the option of extension) for our 191- year-old church in Makena, Maui, Hawaii. Keawala`i Congregational Church is a loving congregation that cares for one another and the community. We have an active music ministry with a choir and ‘ukulele hui (group). We have a community outreach program which supports needy families and individuals in Maui County as well as an internal program to help church members and friends in times of need. Our beloved Kahu (pastor) of 29 years retired on February 16, 2020. The COVID pandemic demanded we slow our search process resulting in an extended interim period guided by our transitional pastor. Our Church was founded as a missionary church of the UCC in 1832 and we have a strong connection with our Hawaiian Heritage and our denomination. Part of our service is in the Hawaiian language. Our worship services are often attended by many visitors who vacation in Hawai’i. We are looking for a dynamic pastor with a generous heart who embodies a creative and adventurous spirit to lead us as we try to grow our congregation and attract younger families while ministering to our ‘ohana (members). Our mission statement, found in the profile, gives an accurate account of who we are and what we are about. We are prayerfully seeking the one God is calling to serve whose major focus will be financial and membership growth. |
