Ministry Description |
Olivet Congregational Church in St. Paul, Minnesota is seeking a ¾ time, designated term pastor. We are an older, established neighborhood church with a rich history that is now a church within a vibrant, diverse neighborhood in the beautiful Twin Cities. We are older, involved congregation with long term members who are looking for leadership in a time of change. We seek a pastoral care minister who is caring and out-going, not an evangelist, but one who will “preach, teach, and visit the sick and bereaved.” We value communication, music and spiritual growth. We value our time of worship with sermons that are intellectually challenging, thought provoking, skillfully rendered and that touch our daily lives. We are looking to a future that will require us to consider new partnerships, new uses for our building, new initiatives for outreach to new members, and experiments in different meeting formats. We also want to continue efforts to strengthen our connections with current members. We want our new pastor to lead with us to meet these challenges. Olivet is financially stable and without debt. We are a congregation of about 60 Active members. We have a 7 member Council and a Church Moderator, 6 Committees and a Diaconate. Our new pastor will supervise 4 part-time staff. We follow all UCC Conference guidelines for benefits and salary. We do not have a parsonage but we do offer a housing allowance. We are prepared to invest in technology and building infrastructure as part of our future goals. We have a strong foundation of goodwill to build upon with a new pastor who will lead us to renew and strengthen our Covenant with each other and the UCC and deepen our knowledge of the progressive Christian theology. |
