Ministry Description |
The Protestant Chaplain provides pastoral support and formation to our Protestant students, who come from multiple traditions, on campus by overseeing a weekly worship service, providing pastoral care, outreaching, and offering spiritual companionship. Additionally, this person will oversee and coordinate 2-3 retreats each year, regularly take shifts on the Campus Ministry On Call (CMOC) phone to provide pastoral care to students, and serve as a consultant on creating inclusive space for students of different Christian faith traditions. This is an 11-month position. Essential Functions: • Pastoral ministry and outreach to undergraduate students • Administrative work including budget management, assessment, organizing and promotion of programs, and coordinating of retreats • Facilitating worship for student population • Collaborates as an integral member of the Campus Ministry Department, the Division of Mission and Ministry, and multiple other campus partners on various projects, programs, and events. Education & Experience: • Masters degree in divinity, theology, pastoral studies, ministry, or related field required (those currently enrolled in a program may be considered) • Ordination and/or certification from a mainline Protestant denomination with preference given to those from a liturgical/sacramentally oriented tradition. • 2-4 year’s ministerial experience with managerial/leadership experience preferred (at least some in active ministry) • Experience working collaboratively with diverse groups • Experience leading groups of people in worship • Knowledge of other Protestant traditions and their worship patterns • Deeply developed pastoral ministry skills • Strong desire to pastorally support students from a wide range of ecumenical traditions • Understanding and appreciation of the Jesuit mission |
