Ministry Description |
College Heights Church is an open-minded, progressive congregation made up of members who like to, as some of us say, “do our own research.” We approach religion both spiritually and intellectually and are supportive of the many diverse spiritual journeys of our current (and potential!) congregants. We are a community-oriented, “all hands on deck” group of people who enjoy participating in church duties as much as spiritual life. College Heights is searching for a spiritual leader who is willing to take on the following responsibilities: - Be a progressive leader who can engage with existing and potential community - Serves as minister, teacher and mentor to members and friends of the congregation - Experience and a willingness to help with growing our congregation among diverse age groups, demographics, and spiritual groups - Helps people understand and act upon issues of social justice - Engage in pastoral responsibilities related to worship, long-term vision and leadership, church administration, pastoral care, and spiritual growth and education. - Lead worship and preach at least once per month (and preferably engage with diverse sources for themes, music, poetry, etc) - Assist in finding and arranging guest speakers for Sundays when not preaching - Assist in pastoral care of the congregation and community (i.e., counseling, home visits, being a point of contact for new members) - Be present and participate in worship services and various church groups (i.e., meditation, book group, discussion groups) - Familiarity with technology, including hybrid worship services and social networking, is a plus. |
