Ministry Description We are seeking to call an Associate Minister who will be responsible for Social Justice (along with the Senior Minister), Christian Education, and Digital Ministries. These three areas are the main portfolio of the associate. Digital ministries have become an essential tool for all aspects of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, from social justice organizing to Christian Education (working with youth and children) and worship. The Associate should have absolute proficiency with online meetings and all key social media platforms. The associate will also have limited pastoral duties (preaching and worship, visitation, and other duties) as needed or as the associate is interested in engaging in these areas of ministry. Pilgrim Church is an Open and Affirming congregation with a progressive theology, a commitment to spiritual growth and a passion for social justice. We take a non-theistic approach to our understanding of the divine and are profoundly guided by the teachings of the historical Jesus. We are a church with an impact far beyond what our numbers would indicate. We are a leading progressive force in San Diego County and nationally, across a broad spectrum of issues, especially, LGBTQ+, immigration, antiracism, reproductive justice and medical aid in dying.
