Ministry Description |
This is a small, historical river town with a private college and a state community college. These along with several museums offer cultural and educational opportunities. We value a slower pace to life in general; our two rivers, nearby national forest and city parklands offer outdoor activity. We are coming out of a long-term full-time pastorate (23 years) into a bi-vocational pastorate. We are looking forward to serving needs in our community and need an energetic, forward thinking minister to support and help guide us through this uncertain period (Covid) and into the next as we seek to continue being the church in the world. This is a culturally homogenous area with little diversity. We could use help to become more culturally sensitive to the problems in our country/world (e.g. BLM, refugees, immigration, environment, LGBTQ, mental illness, disabled, addictions, homelessness). Just because those may not seem like a “problem” to our community, we all need to see our part in systemic injustices, how our faith addresses these things, and how we can help be part of solutions. We feel strongly about outreach to the community especially in meal programs. We feel we might expand outreach further. We also feel strongly about wanting to be an accepting, welcoming place, not only for ourselves, but for others. |
