Ministry Description |
As an ever-widening inclusive Christian community, Church of the Three Crosses is called to transform ourselves and our world to embody God’s radical love, healing, and hope. Over the past three years, our congregation has articulated a vision and mission statement, and drawn up a strategic plan. We are looking for an interim minister to lead us in this season, helping us prepare to call our next settled pastor and live into our mission. We would consider part-time with the right candidate. We are located in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, and affiliated with both the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church. We are an Open and Affirming (UCC) and Reconciling Congregation (UMC) with a strong history of social activism. Our “in-the-round” sanctuary fosters an inclusive and flexible worship space and style. Most Sundays recently, between 12 and 24 members, friends, and visitors attend worship. As the transmission rate of the virus decreases and once vaccination is available for children under 5, we expect to see more members returning to in-person worship. Our community contains people from many generations, and from many neighborhoods. Many people commute to worship on Sunday, from places within the city and suburbs. |
