Ministry Description |
Saint Pauls UCC in Chicago, a vibrant, progressive church, is searching for an Associate Pastor. We have been Open and Affirming since 1989. We seek an innovative Pastor who loves questions and loves Jesus. This is a rare opportunity to join a collegial, supportive ministerial team of three pastors, serving a diverse and dedicated congregation in one of the world’s greatest cities. While this is not a “youth ministry” position, a commitment to children is essential. At Saint Pauls, ministry to youth and children is shared by our Senior Pastor and both Associates. Our programs range from birth to high school. Our new Associate Pastor will lead our K-6 Sunday School. In addition, they will preach regularly, and lead other essential Saint Pauls’ ministries. These could include programs such as Outreach and Benevolence, Adult Mission Trips, Finance, Stewardship, Facilities, Young Adults, Small Group Formation, Environmental Ministry, Worship Committee, Anti-Racism, etc. Our congregation loves the work you are called to do. We are looking for someone who is comfortable in the pulpit, and equally comfortable in small group settings. We hope you have the ability to lead, allow others to lead, and be led. A successful candidate will be progressive minded and intellectually curious, passionate about social justice, and ministry in a diverse environment, committed to working with children from birth through teenage years, emotionally mature, self-directed, and excited to serve a strong, unique church that is “traditional but not conventional.” |
