Ministry Description |
The First Congregational Church of Westbrook is a community-based church, located on the beautiful Southeastern Connecticut shoreline. Here, we enjoy the benefits of small town living along with the advantages that our close proximity to New York and Boston offer. We are seeking a Full time Settled Pastor to both lead our congregation and to actively engage with our community at large. Our congregation is a resilient family, devoted to caring for one another. There is a strong and passionate core of lay leaders who are generous with their time and talents. We are proud of our 295 year history and excited about recent events and decisions which will chart our future. We have committed to being a mission-driven church and are looking for new opportunities to expand our mission initiatives. A recent remodel of our kitchen and updates to our Fellowship Hall will not only tremendously enhance our current community meal-site program, but will also allow for new and expanded community outreach. We recently voted unanimously that our church be designated as Open and Affirming. Our already strong music program has been energized by a new, highly qualified and talented organist and choir director. We believe that God is calling our new minister to strengthen our connections with one another, and to work alongside us to address the needs of our community. Together, we believe we will be able to revitalize our youth ministry and grow our church family. We are looking for a minister to preach the Gospel with energy and enthusiasm, and to guide us in applying it to today’s world and our personal lives. Our Church Vision Statement calls us “to be a people inspired by the Holy Spirt, passionately committed to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, faithfully living the Great Commandment and through whom God brings His kingdom on Earth”. We are hoping to call a Settled Pastor to walk with us in living out this vision! |
