Ministry Description |
Hawaii Kai United Church of Christ (HKUCC) is a “family of families,” with Jesus Christ as our foundation. We're a servant-hearted & loving people, open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. People say they immediately felt comfortable & at home with us. This stems from our beginning 38 yrs ago, when 8 believers met in the home of a couple who had a vision for this church in Hawaii Kai. Hahaione School’s cafeteria is now our home & place of worship where we’ve flourished into the faithful & serving church we are today. We’ve only had 2 called pastors in our church’s history but we’ve had a strong covenantal relationship with both. The pandemic forced us to evolve. We can't worship in the cafeteria. Worship, meetings, Bible studies, keiki time are conducted via Facebook & Zoom. While a challenge, we can do this because we have always been open & willing to embrace change in obedience to God. Change is happening in HKUCC. Although 59% of our congregation is 55 years & older, leadership roles, from moderator to Ministry Team leaders, are held by young adults. They felt called to lead us into a new & exciting future. Looking to the future, HKUCC is seeking & praying for a good shepherd who is: Compassionate, sensitive, approachable & caring. Willing to work with an aging congregation & who can assimilate into a community that embraces many races, cultures, & lifestyles. Tech-savvy innovator. A visionary who will lead us to creative new ways of being God’s church. A motivator who can strategize, encourage, & work alongside laity to use our God-given gifts in support of our church’s ministry & mission into the community. A Pastor who embraces Jesus’ Agape Love, who will join us in deepening our outreach into our community & find new ways to attract young adults & families into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe God has already chosen the right person for us! We pray you are believing that He has chosen our church, His church, for you to shepherd! |
