Ministry Description |
First Congregational Church UCC is a progressive Christian alternative in our conservative community. We are seeking a collaborative pastor to partner with our members to recognize and utilize our strengths, train lay leadership, represent the church in the community, and share the Gospel in relevant ways for today. The congregation is open and affirming, with a significant LGBTQ presence. We enjoy fellowship events. We work together on church events and programs including local mission projects. We encourage everyone to participate regardless of age or mobility. Our church tries to be innovative and creative. We want to live the message that “all are welcome” in both our church and our community. We need help to give progressive theology wings, feet and hands. We look towards development of congregational leadership to envision and maintain new church programs and missions, and assist in pastoral care. We seek to examine our facilities and programs in light of an aging congregation and declining membership Our growing small city has a big sense of community, including three hospitals, a state university and abundant arts programs.
