Ministry Description |
We are a UCC congregation and we are also known as the community church. We want to continue in that role. That means everyone is welcome, no matter where they are on their faith journey. Welcoming the diversity of beliefs and maintaining an open door is a high priority for this congregation, knowing there will never be a final conclusion to our story because we are ever evolving. The Larchwood UCC wants to further expand its outreach to the community, create new opportunities to share the ministry of the church and help our members better connect with each other about their faith. The church has a younger membership with a loving family atmosphere. It has a strong lay leadership, and has a renewed feeling that comes from the work of this transition to a new pastor. The community is growing and that brings a high potential for growth in this congregation. We seek a pastor who will help our members grow in their faith and who will help these members see their church as the center of their life. There is an energy inside this congregation right now that is exciting, but at the same time is a little lost because there is no pastoral leadership in place. That leadership is needed to keep the energy going, and to bring some stability and continuity to the church. The members are all eager to keep involved and bring the ministry outside the walls and into the area (and beyond). What is missing is that leader who will help guide those efforts. Larchwood is a small community right next door to a larger city (Sioux Falls, SD), so it’s almost perfect for small-town living with easy access to city resources. We seek a pastor on a full-time basis who will help us in our time of waiting and seeking; and to be present in the community and in the wider church. This is a wonderful opportunity with a tremendous upside to grow a church from the outside and from the inside, and to be part of something special. |
