The word that comes to mind as I think of the people of Bethany United Church of Christ is: “stretching”. Bethany is a congregation in motion. Bethany is a congregation with a gift for reaching, for learning, for discovering new opportunities for outreach in their community and beyond. Bethany is a congregation which leans toward the future, working to provide the best possible spiritual formation and nurture for their children and youth. Bethany is a congregation with a gift for welcoming and a call to stretch their arms even wider. Bethany is a generous congregation, open to new opportunities to share their gifts in Christ’s service. Bethany is a congregation with a gift for supporting its ministers with respect and affection, and with the committed service of gifted lay leaders. Bethany UCC is able to support a pastor at either level A or level B of Iowa Conference compensation guidelines. Baxter is a growing community in central Iowa. New housing construction is bringing new families and new opportunities for Bethany’s gift for welcoming.
