Ministry Description The United Church of Christ’s Young Adult Service Communities (YASC) provide a platform for young adult leaders to transform communities through the faith-inspired pursuit of justice, collaborative action and intentional living. The program provides a unique opportunity for new graduates to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually while serving to foster community and promote justice. During their participation in the YASC program, young adult leaders receive meaningful, hands-on experience, working with social agencies and church communities involved in various local contexts. In addition, the focus on intentional community provides a support system as they wrestle with questions of meaning and engage vocational discernment. Intentional communities are hosted by an individual or group of congregations that are involved in the intersections between congregational life and work in the world. Participants are adults age 21-35. They serve 32 hours a week with a community agency that partners with the host church (in direct service or advocacy). They serve 4-6 hours in positions with the host church(es). Two hours a week are set aside for the group to meet with a Spiritual Sojourner (a guide/facilitator/vocational discernment mentor). Interns receive a monthly stipend, housing, and health care. Interns are sought from any faith background or no faith background. Apply online: https://goo.gl/SPcc2s
