Ministry Description |
We are a 131 year-old church started by Japanese immigrants that has transformed into an intergenerational, interracial, multicultural, interfaith community with an emphasis on extravagant welcome. We affirm our commitment to youth, immigrants, and our denomination being Open and Affirming. We are flexible, open to one another in prayer, engage fellowship through our Aloha Hour (snacks and conversation after the Sunday service), and are willing to give financial resources, time, and talent (both physically and mentally). We are looking for a full-time settled pastor who is a passionate, visionary leader with strong organizational skills. Our primary goals are to inspire our current congregation while expanding our outreach, growing our congregation, and deepening our impact in the community. To achieve that end, we need a pastor with passion, fresh perspective, and energy to lead that movement. Our mission statement is "We are a people of God, living and sharing the love of Christ and reflecting that love in word and actions." We covenant one with another to seek and respond to the Word and will of God. We purpose to walk together in the ways of the Lord, made known and to be made known to us. We would like our settled pastor to get to know members by name (be the shepherd who knows their flock); provide support for our members who are homebound, in care homes, or hospitalized, with activities/prayers; continue/create programs to attract new and younger members; be an advocate for justice, working alongside our congregation members; continue diversity and support the Micronesian culture, as well as supporting native Hawaiian rights, continue to expand LGBTQI+ commitment to the broader community, create a safe home for those who seek to re-engage with the church, and nurture partnership with other denominations. |
