Ministry Description |
Our church is an active church. Seeking this summer to get shovels in the group for a six year affordable housing project in our backyard. We have seen steady growth for the past four years and an excitement that is tangible in all our events. We are a federated church whose United Methodist pastor has been appointed to another congregation and we seek a collaborative leader to continue the ministries that have opened our doors to the community and developing a faith community ready to sustain and grow us into a faith community of our time and for the next 50 years. Our communication style is open and honest with a good use of technology and in-person meetings to support what is needed by the body. We see ourselves as the church on the green, the church that rang the bell at the end of World War II, the church that rang the bell everyday of COVID-19 lockdown, and the church that will ring the bell of grief and celebration into the future. We are a congregation in a season of genuine transition - saying farewell to a beloved pastor, taking stock of who we are, and preparing for our next chapter. The interim pastor we seek will be a partner in this work, not a placeholder until the next settled pastor is called. We are looking for someone who is collaborative and curious, able to work alongside an engaged lay leadership and a congregation full of ideas. We need someone with a genuine gift for pastoral care and healing, capable of tending to a community that will be navigating grief and change alongside hope and growth. We are looking for someone organized enough to thrive in a church with a great deal going on! Perhaps, above all we are looking for someone who is energized by community: by serving the town we love, by building relationships within the congregation, and by walking with us as we discern our future. |
