Ministry Description |
First Congregational Church (UCC) of Springfield, Vermont, is stepping into an energized season of reflection and transformation. With a history stretching back to 1781, we are a congregation that honors its deep roots while boldly declaring, "Our faith is two thousand years old, but our thinking is not". We are looking for a Part-Time Pastor (1/3 time) to join us on an exciting three-to-five-year journey of reimagining what a faithful presence looks like in the 21st century. A Community of Hospitality and Hope We are a people defined by love for our neighbors. Our church is a vibrant hub in downtown Springfield, known for: • Iconic Worship: Our 1833 building is a town landmark, featuring a high-quality pipe organ and a sanctuary with incredible acoustics. • Radical Hospitality: For a decade, we have hosted free community meals, sitting side-by-side with our neighbors to share stories and food. • Community Connection: From our newly created public "Green Space" to hosting Santa’s annual visit with cocoa and cookies, we love being at the center of town life. • Modern Outreach: We embrace technology with a continuous Facebook livestream, reaching those near and far. The Journey Ahead We aren't looking for someone to maintain the status quo; we want a leader who is energized by possibility. While we face the honest challenges of a large building and shifting membership, we view this as a "season of transformation". Our Priorities Include: • Visionary Stewardship: Helping us navigate the creative repurposing of our beautiful building to better serve God's mission today. • Spiritual Vitality: Providing continuity in soulful worship, pastoral care, and the exploration of faith. • Collaborative Leadership: Walking with a congregation that is honest about its flux but deeply hopeful about its future. If you are a compassionate leader who finds joy in growth and change, we invite you to explore this unique opportunity to help a historic church write its next great chapter. |
