Ministry Description |
We are a welcoming and friendly congregation to all who believe in Jesus Christ and his gift of salvation. Salem has an incredible history, the oldest church in Harrisburg, and our footprint on the corner of Chestnut and Third Streets still makes a difference after more than 240 years. We aim to increase our membership by utilizing our website, Facebook page, and other church activities, such as our Butterfly Service and Riverboat Service. We also maintain a Prayer Garden at our church, where people find peace and solace. Our picturesque banners, which hang from the church on Chestnut Street, also offer a welcoming touch. Further, we offer our building for AA meetings. Located near several high-rise apartments and Harrisburg University, we have an opportunity to reach out to residents and students alike. Our clothing closet serves many here in the capital district through a dedicated team of volunteers. We are seeking a part-time pastor to lead our congregation.
