Ministry Description |
We seek a minister who is as excited as we are about embarking on a new adventure! We are Bethany Church UCC in Montpelier, Vermont and The United Church of Northfield UCC/UUA in Northfield, Vermont. Established in 1808 and 1836 respectively, we are the sole UCC churches in our towns, which are located ten miles apart along a well-maintained state highway. More alike than different, our Open and Affirming congregations took the first step in our new journey when we decided to call a minister together, enabling us to offer full-time compensation, a beautiful parsonage, and the potential for some joint ministries. Although our membership has followed the downward trend over the years, our commitment to our congregations and communities has not. We are respected for our outreach activities, the sharing of our buildings, and the visibility of our lay leaders and ministers in addressing community needs. While we expect our minister to be involved in worship, pastoral care, community connections, and church administration, we are open to how all of this happens. Equally important is that the minister has the skills and enthusiasm to work with us as we discern our path forward, reshaping our identity and activities for more effective ministry in a changing landscape. We are ready to make the changes needed to better serve all God’s children and we seek a minister who will be a full partner with us as we undergo transformation. |
