Ministry Description |
The Illinois Conference includes all of the members, all of the churches, all of the clergy and all of the covenant partners affiliated with the United Church of Christ and located in the northern 2/3 of the great state of Illinois. Together, our shared work is to help the 220 local churches of our Conference be Stronger Together. The IL Conference is in an exciting season of reimagination, restructure, and renewal. There is a spirit of hope even amidst the struggles of the post pandemic realities. We are a vibrant, diverse, faith-filled, seeking community striving to align our resources with the mission God has before us. We have a vision to develop a culture of: trust and transparency, innovation and experimentation, forward movement, optimism, broad engagement and anti-racism. We recognize this is long-term work – but worthy of the effort of viewing all our activities through this lens. We are seeking an Associate Conference Minister for Pastoral Transitions who will journey with our pastors and congregations from the initial stages of discernment of retirement or resignation through leave taking, interim ministry, the search and call process, and all the way through installation of the next settled minister. This individual will be a critical member of the Ministry Leadership Team (MLT: CM and ACMs) and share in the care and connection for our clergy and churches. We seek an Authorized Minister of the UCC who works well with a team, provides spiritual leadership and guidance, is comfortable in diverse settings (racial, cultural, geographic), has familiarity with UCC polity and search and call processes, and doesn’t mind cold winters.
