Ministry Description |
Second First Church, a merger of two historic churches in Rockford, seeks a settled Senior Pastor to provide ongoing worship life of their federated congregation. The full-time Senior Pastor will be proficient in ministries of preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and organization leadership to a congregation of 300 members. We hope our Senior Pastor will be a flexible, creative, team player who can think outside the typical church box, have a sense of humor, be open minded and open hearted, be self-aware, learn from others, and act as a compassionate listener who will work to promote wellness in the congregation. Respect for all is key as we are a progressive church that welcomes all and wants to promote equality. We seek a Senior Pastor who feels drawn to working with, and creating safe spaces for, people from all walks of life. We especially desire that our new pastor be sensitive to the needs of those who are from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and often part of marginalized populations: the LGBTQ+ community, the homeless, the physically or mentally challenged. We seek a leader who will serve as an ally to those populations while engaging our congregation and the community in authentic conversation to promote change and improve lives.
