Ministry Description |
Cherishing our 17th century founding (1638) as the first parish immediately south of Boston and seeking to envision our mission in the 21st century, Allin Congregational Church has experienced both conflict and peace for four centuries. We are located in the Town of Dedham, a historic suburban community of about 25,000 residents. Our town’s rich heritage includes the Fairbanks House, the longest standing timber-frame house in the U.S. (1637), site of the first free public school supported by tax dollars (1649), and seat of Norfolk County since 1793. Today, Dedham is an inclusive community, centrally located at the crossroads of bustling interstate highways and nestled among once winding paths of farmlands along the Charles River. Allin Church seeks an energetic, skilled, and ideally Certified Intentional Interim who will lead a new creative worship team, currently anchored by a fresh and dynamic Director of Music (PhD). Since June 2019 (see church profile), a committed team of lay leaders has helped steer our Open and Affirming faithful over rocky paths to follow Jesus Christ and define our vision for the future. Since the pandemic our congregation has retreated into a survivorship cocoon that is only now beginning to open up. Our interim should not only be an excellent listener, but also one who preaches the word of God with a Biblical base to help our members and friends grapple with current local, national and world events. Skills or experience in technology, church management and expansion, and organization and supervision of professional and lay church staff are desirable. |
