First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury is a vibrant, welcoming and dynamic place of worship and mission. We are almost 300 years old and thrive through respect for what has come before, while growing into and responding to the challenges of today and what lies ahead. We are an Open and Affirming congregation, financially secure, and blessed with a membership that gives freely of its time. We are seeking a Full-time Minister with a proven history of effective pastoral leadership. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to lead a mission-oriented congregation into and through a transition from a 20th century church into a 21st century church. The candidate must have experience in developing a congregation-wide spirit of welcome and a focus on more diversity. Knowledge and proven experience with church management, expansion and finances, along with the skills needed to supervise staff effectively are essential. The candidate must be an effective and creative leader of worship, able to inspire with excellent preaching and theological literacy. The candidate will recognize the value and need for Christian education for all ages and facilitate the development of effective programming. |
