Ministry Description |
The Sierra Vista Community Church (UCC) is a well-established traditional congregation looking for an energetic part-time Pastor and spiritual leader. Our membership is comprised of warm and welcoming, well-educated, middle-aged to elderly conservative Christians who are committed to the service and survival of this church. We are involved in the Sierra Vista, Arizona community which has a large military and Veteran presence. We are united in striving to know the will of God as taught in the Holy Scriptures. We hold it to be the mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel to all mankind, exalting the worship of the one true God and laboring for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace, and the realization of human brotherhood. Depending upon the continued guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, we work and pray for the transformation of the world into the Kingdom of God. We look with faith for the triumph of righteousness and life everlasting in Heaven. Our ideal pastoral candidate will be a minister who is mature enough to meet the challenges of an older congregation while also growing our church for a future with younger families. Our minister must bring to the pulpit a firm background in the history and theology of the Christian church and be proficient in sharing that background. Our church operates under the Congregational style of governance; meaning that the business of the church is set forth by the Church Council, Boards, Committees, and Congregation. New ideas are welcome from the pastor, however all changes in the way we conduct our business must be staffed through a final vote by the congregation. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work together within our polity, motivating the entire team toward a spiritual and practical growth of the church. |
