Ministry Description |
The Congregational Church UCC in Rochester, Minnesota is seeking a full-time settled pastor. Located in southeast Minnesota, Rochester is the third largest city in the state. It consistently ranks high on the list of most livable cities and is home to the Mayo Clinic. With excellent school systems in which over 50 primary languages are spoken, Rochester is recognized as one of the best places to raise a family. Rochester is witnessing unprecedented economic growth due to a unique partnership between Mayo Clinic, the City and the State, known as Destination Medical Center. The initiative has spurred a revitalization of the city center with many new housing developments, restaurants and performance spaces opening in the past year. Rochester is also home to an active sports and recreation scene with more than 85 miles of paved trails and 3500 acres of park land. We are a multigenerational congregation with deep roots in the local community, celebrating our 160th Anniversary in 2018. We are an Open and Affirming ('ONA') congregation and strive to be an accepting faith community that nurtures each individual and family, whoever they are and wherever they are on life’s journey. Members extend their faith beyond the church walls through long-standing work with the local food bank and other outreach opportunities in the wider community. The church is financially stable and members are generous, both internally to the church as well as to external beneficiaries. We have an excellent music program that includes adult and youth choirs, and adult and youth handbell choirs. The church uses English handbells, a Steinway grand piano, and a Reuter pipe organ to enhance the Sunday service experience. We have an active lay leadership within the church and seek a minister who will collaborate with us and grow the congregation. We are looking for a pastor who will inspire, lead by compassionate example, and help us serve the wider community. |
