Ministry Description |
Our church is solid and ready for continued growth! Last November, after our longtime Senior Minister retired, this congregation voted to move ahead with a planned expansion of our church building that enhances our worship space and adds much needed gathering space. The construction project reflects a shared vision of inclusion, making room for more people by adding a gathering space and classrooms that will be used not only by church members, but by community members and friends. We are currently worshipping in the Fellowship Hall of 2nd Presbyterian Church and will likely be there until early 2026.The congregational decision to move forward with a building expansion project signals that this church is committed to increasing our visibility and vibrancy as a progressive Christian witness in a region where what it means to be Christian is sometimes understood and acted out differently. We have neighbors and friends who are seeking alternatives to the current Christian milieu. We are looking for a Senior Minister who is excited to become both spiritual leader and guide with a congregation who sees themselves as situated to offer Christian community to a broader swath of our larger community. We are looking for a minister who feels led to join a stable, growing progressive Christian community located at the edge of the Smoky Mountains, in a great college town, as we work together to make ourselves known to those in our region who are seeking progressive Christian community. We seek a leader who will help us as we strengthen our own abilities to provide community for and with one another, as we walk our spiritual journeys together. The top of the range includes taking all of the housing allowance as salary. $72,800 is the salary plus housing total |
