Ministry Description |
The Cotuit Federated Church, founded in 1846, is located in Cotuit, a small, charming village on the shore of Cape Cod, with both the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ welcoming worshipers of all traditions. Our dynamic Pastor nurtures everyone through vibrant Sunday worship and enjoys leading Bible studies. Our Christian Education Director plans and leads our youth programs. Our Director of Music leads a choir, a bell choir, and a tambourine band, all with an appreciation for the role of music in worship. Support staff includes an Administrative Assistant to Ministry, a Treasurer, and a Bookkeeper. Members in our church value our unique identity as the little church with a big heart, that our Open and Affirming/Reconciling is sincere and alive, and that we are supportive of the diverse community organizations where we live. Our worship services and especially our pastor make an immediate impact; many visitors return and become members. We have active lay leadership and strong teams. Our recently expanded sanctuary, new classrooms, new music room, and our Hamilton Hall community room support multiple community programs that aid our neighbors, especially programs that address food insecurity and the needs of unhoused neighbors. We host Scout troops, NA, AA, Ballroom Dancing, Yoga, and Cotuit Library movie nights and book launches. We are seeking a part-time Associate Pastor with a Master of Divinity or equivalent, and training in clinical pastoral education, theology, and counseling. Ordination in the United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church, or a theologically aligned partner denomination is important. Responsibilities include visiting congregants and families in homes, hospitals, and nursing homes, administering sacraments, providing pastoral care, praying for all members, and taking part in confirmation classes, marriages, and funerals. We are an Equipping Church and will encourage the AP to follow their call and passions. |
