Ministry Description |
The congregation of Greendale People’s Church, Worcester, MA is in search of a Designated Term Pastor to serve a two year full time position. Greendale People’s Church (GPC) is loosely affiliated with the United Church of Christ (UCC), although we are not governed by them. We also have an affiliation with, and are a founding member of, the International Council of Community Churches (ICCC). Worcester, and our immediate neighborhood of Greendale, have much to offer its citizens. Worcester is a vibrant and diverse city nicknamed “The Heart Of The Commonwealth”. It is the second largest city in New England. With its affordable housing, close proximity to Boston, green parks, quality hospitals, a culturally diverse public school system and home to a dozen highly esteemed colleges and universities, there is a unique vitality to this metro area. A time of transition in the life of a congregation is an opportunity to gain clarity regarding the church’s mission. Greendale People’s Church is in the process of clarifying our mission to better reflect who we are and where we strive to go as a congregation. In doing this we seek a Designated Term Pastor. This person would be vital in helping us discern our future, evaluate our possible paths, reorganize as needed and move forward in a direction to be determined. We are facing challenges related to finances and growth, but what we do have is love and hope. In existence for 125 years, our Church has a solid foundation, but also sees a need for revitalization and possible restructure. We are an open, welcoming, inclusive community seeking to love God and to follow Jesus Christ. Most of all, we are looking for a compassionate, faithful, honest person who is able to be gentle, yet provide us with guidance, structure and the tools to set the path of our future. |
