Ministry Description |
First Church of Lombard, a 450-member, outreach-oriented, Open and Affirming, Just Peace congregation of the United Church of Christ located nineteen miles west of Chicago, seeks an Outreach Ministries Coordinator to work in close, collaborative relationships with church members, fellow staff members, the Outreach House Board and members of the community to develop, coordinate and support five direct-service ministries of First Church of Lombard and share staffing responsibilities with the Wider Church Team. Daytime, evening and weekend hours are required to achieve the desired outcome: meeting client needs in a wise, safe and effective manner. The ideal candidate will possess: * a minimum of three years' experience in a leadership capacity (five or more years preferred) * knowledge of community referrals for clients * experience with and empathy for under served populations * strong organizational and time management skills * strong interpersonal and communication skills * ability to lift forty pounds and climb and descend stairs * a commitment to progressive Christian values * spiritual and emotional maturity * the ability to identify and develop leaders * the ability to build and support strong lay teams * the ability to delegate effectively * experience working with social services or social service agencies * bachelor's degree (master's preferred, license not required). This 30-hour-per-week, salaried position reports to the Senior Minister and the Outreach House Board. Salary of $33,000 - 35,000, is based on experience. Resumes to: Rev.
