Ministry Description |
First Congregational Church of Port St Lucie is a warm and welcoming congregation. Our current membership is 68 adults and visitors. We come from different backgrounds and when we are together we are one family. The first Sunday of each month is Communion Sunday; we also have breakfast together. We celebrate October by selling pumpkins and have a festival with vendors, BBQ, and baked goods. During our spring strawberry festival, we sell strawberries, baked goods and host vendors, car show, face painting, kids’ inflatables. We have an art group that meets on Mondays, we have a bible study that meets on Tuesday nights at 7. We serve dinner (about 250) to go from a soup kitchen that we are connected to (Sarah’s Kitchen). Thursday the girl scouts meet in our hall and then on Fridays and Saturdays we try to plan some fun things to get together, like a dinner or game night. Sunday we are so happy to be in God’s house to sing hymns and hear the bible. We love it when the minister adds to the sermon with some personal experience or some historical information that he/she knows. We have a wonderful working council and several committees: Trustees, Deacons, Mission Board, Memorial Garden, Nominating, Recreation/Fellowship, Board of Education, Long Range Planning, Stewardship, and Music. Our goal is to create an environment in our church that will attract newly retired people and families who want a Bible based foundation on which they can build a strong relationship with God. Our hope is to eventually call a committed person of faith who has successfully led such a congregation. Right now we are looking for a quarter time or part time minister and we hope that will change as we grow. We live in a sunny warm environment just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean. We have affordable housing, excellent amenities, great restaurants, and good shopping. Is this something you could be interested in? |
