Ministry Description |
Corinth Reformed Church is a historic 1900-member, primarily Caucasian, professional, and English-speaking UCC congregation in Hickory, NC, affiliated with Faithful and Welcoming Churches. We are looking for a senior pastor to follow Bob Thompson, who plans to retire in 2023 after a brief overlap with his successor. The pastor should have a clear profession of personal faith, a love for the church, and commitment to modeling spiritual disciplines. Transformational leadership, study, the proclamation of Scripture, and building trust through humility and interdependence are deeply valued by Corinth. We seek to follow the motto, “In essentials unity; in non- essentials liberty, in all things charity.” Our three Sunday worship services incorporate various styles of worship and music as a display of our celebration of diversity within the body of Christ and the commitment to reach others with the gospel. Each service is Christ-centered and sermons are focused on teaching the Bible. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated monthly in all three services. Sunday School, Bible studies, and small groups are all part of our spiritual formation. We are blessed with the longevity of service among our 35 staff members (including five ordained pastors). For two decades, we have grown in membership, attendance, and finances. We are respected in the UCC and among other Hickory churches as a healthy congregation of resources, outreach, and commitment to the visible unity of the Church.
