Ministry Description |
Our new pastor should be a teacher who will use the Bible to reach a congregation that is spread broadly across the theological spectrum as related to social issues, be compassionate and skilled in the care of our young children and elderly members, be open to finding ways to increase its membership, and preferably possess some musical ability and computer literacy. The pastoral candidate’s abilities in pastoral care, sermons, mission focus and Bible studies are important to us as they shape each parishioner’s faith. We have experienced ministers with varying strengths and weaknesses in these areas. We need a pastor who is balanced in his/her ability to deliver a clear message and challenge us as a teacher, while meeting the needs of the entire congregation with warmth and compassion. An area of contention in our church has been social justice issues, such as equal marriage rights. We look to the Bible for guidance in considering moral issues, but there are differences in interpretation. We need a pastor with an open mind and the ability to lead us with effective communication, respect, and the love of God; someone who can help us learn how to bridge our differences and guide us in fully serving God. It is important that you know who we are. Although there are clear and sometimes vast differences among individual congregants, we are a close knit and welcoming congregation who share the love for each other and the love for Christ. |
