Ministry Description All Souls is a mission-minded congregation with an independent spirit, united by our shared desire to know and serve God. We have deep roots in the history of Bangor, Maine. Our church family is made up of engaged and respected community members who span multiple generations and our vibrant mission programs teach all ages that we are “God’s hands and feet.” We are in search of an Associate Pastor (Minister of Christian Nurture) who will value our rich heritage and yet guide us to embrace the opportunities which are found within both this time of transition and also the changing world in which we live. We are eager to welcome a pastoral leader who, drawing from the riches of our historic Christian tradition, will develop our faith in Jesus Christ and our service to the world in His name. The Minister of Christian Nurture (MCN) will work closely with our Board of Christian Education to provide programs for youth and adults alike that help participants grow in faith, knowledge, and service. The MCN will have oversight of other staff who work in these areas and will be responsible for leading a diverse group of volunteers and lay leaders. The MCN typically teaches our High School Sunday school class, but also participates in worship on a regular basis. Participation includes reading liturgy, providing a children’s story, assisting with the administration of the sacraments, and occasional preaching. The Minister of Christian Nurture is also at the heart of a longstanding and transformative mission program called ASSIST-JC (All Souls Students in Service to Jesus Christ). This program draws between 60 and 80 participants per year for mission experiences in Eastport, Maine and Antigua, Guatemala. We are looking for someone of sincere and Biblically rooted faith, able to inspire a diverse community and lead them toward a common vision. The right candidate will bring passion and creativity to an already vibrant and successful program.
