Ministry Description |
The Day’s Ferry Congregational Church (DFCC) is seeking a part-time settled pastor to join with us to grow spiritually and expand our service to others as followers of Christ. If you join us, you will be enveloped by our “extravagant hospitality” and presented with an intellectually curious congregation committed to making a difference in our community. DFCC is located in Midcoast Maine, a region known for its scenic beauty, small town atmosphere, and many recreational, educational and cultural opportunities. Portland, Maine (Bon Appétit Magazine’s 2018 Restaurant City of the Year) is 35 miles away with easy transportation to the Northeast and beyond. Our sanctuary was built in 1833 in the traditional New England style. It and the Parish House, which was added in 1990, are both in excellent, well-maintained condition with recently completed accessibility improvements. Our worship is traditional, and we have an exceptional music program led by Dr. Paul Althouse, including an enthusiastic choir, three fine instruments and special musical events through the year. Our budget, supported by a trust fund, has been stable for many years without a deficit. We contribute close to 15% of our budget to community outreach efforts. Our multi-talented congregation is highly educated and includes professionals, educators, artisans and many active retirees. Our programs include weekly Bible study, book groups, prayer shawl knitting, hands-on workdays, Red Cross blood drives, a church garden, support for our local food bank, Habitat for Humanity and special Thanksgiving and Christmas outreach efforts. While church members manage the day-to-day operation of the church, we seek a pastor to inspire us in our spiritual growth and effective service to the community. If you join us, you will be embraced into our fellowship and find a group dedicated to learning and growing spiritually and to finding new and expanded ways to serve each other and our larger community effectively. |
