Ministry Description Do you feel yourself called to minister to a large, urban church, excel at building relationships and are you energized and innovative? Asylum Hill Congregational Church (AHCC), a large, urban church in Hartford, CT, seeks a passionate, dedicated minister to join us as a full-time Associate Minister for Mid/Later Life. As an Open & Affirming congregation, our mission is to help people grow in faith and love as disciples of Jesus. Our dynamic membership is a community nourished by worship and outreach, where our vision calls us to be a church of Inquiry—asking hard questions of life and faith; Acceptance—where you don’t have to “fit in” to belong; and Impact—committed to making a positive change in the world. Our new associate minister will be part of a dynamic three-clergy team and will have a primary focus on pastoral care, including worship, faith formation and growth tailored to our congregants in the mid to later stages of life demonstrating understanding and compassion for the joys and challenges they face. This age-based approach to ministry will call upon your leadership and creativity to develop exciting and supportive programs for those in the later half of life, ensuring that their talents, time, wisdom and dedication are appreciated and that the problems that they may begin to experience as they age are treated with sensitivity. As a church with a “heart for the city,” the successful candidate will boldly and creatively also help our mid- to later-life members find joy in being God’s hands and feet in stewardship of our earth and in ministering to those beyond our walls. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, committed and innovative person of deep faith who will lead an experienced and devoted part-time staff and volunteers who are open to new ideas and structures with passion for bringing faith to life. If you feel AHCC could be the place for you we would welcome the chance to review your ministerial profile.
