Ministry Description |
The Council of Central Congregational United Church of Christ is seeking to covenant with a fulltime Interim Minister to lead our congregation. We need someone to meet the following expectations: 1. Provide continuity in worship, pastoral care, ministry, and staff oversight for Central during this transition period. 2. Assess strengths, identify needs, and set goals to strengthen Central in the areas of: Worship, including music, Growth and vitality of membership, Mission and outreach, Congregational care Our goals for our time with an Interim Minister are: 1. Continuity and Comfort-Encourage all church members to view this transition as a tremendous opportunity to strengthen our commitment to Christ, our church, our missions, and each other. Focus our collective efforts on regaining/retaining an engaged sense of community within the entire congregation as we transition to new leadership.c. Foster/increase opportunities for members to study, fellowship and minister to each other. 2. Congregation- Assess what they consider to be their roles and responsibilities as members of the congregation. Determine what their expectations are of what they want from their church and their future settled pastor. 3. Lay Involvement/Leadership-Increase member engagement in lay-focused initiatives. Increase lay support for administrative staff and pastoral tasks to free up more time for them to devote to pastoral care for congregants. Develop a structure for developing an expanded and more engaged lay leadership. 4. Define/Refine Our Mission, Vision and Values- Conduct a formal review of existing statements, pulling from all available materials. Work with Council to develop a mission statement to articulate our vision, goals and values and eventually the congregation itself for review and approval. Develop a process to roll out the approved statements across all audiences and platforms. Assess the leadership structure of the congregation and organize to achieve the mission. |
