Ministry Description |
The IDM will work closely with senior and associate minister to craft two Sunday worship services that follow the revised common lectionary and engage the hearts and minds of those in attendance. The IDM will conduct and accompany (piano or organ) a volunteer choir with a long history of singing works from many musical genres at 11:00 a.m. service and will play piano for a smaller, more contemplative service at 8:30 a.m. Description of Duties: • Build genuine sense of community with choir and congregation • Collaborate effectively with worship planning team • Conduct and play for choir and congregation at 11:00 a.m. Sunday service, pulling in music from many genres, including but not limited to the standard classical repertoire, folk tunes, contemporary anthems and music from around the world • Play piano for 8:30 a.m. Sunday worship service • Make hymn singing an integral part of worship services, inviting congregational participation in creative and inspiring ways • Plan for and run two weekly choir rehearsals (90 minutes on Wednesday night and 60 minutes on Sunday morning) that allow volunteers who may not be at every rehearsal to participate Arrange for, rehearse and coach with soloists and guest instrumental musicians Select and prepare appropriate preludes, offertories and postludes • Administrative duties (e.g., review of the weekly orders of service) • Plan and participate fully in special services as needed • Maintain choral library • Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in music from an accredited college or applicable experience • Prior experience in selection and direction of sacred choral and instrumental music • Exceptional organizational and time management skills • Maintain professional demeanor, exercise mature judgment • Dependable and flexible team participant How to Apply: submit cover letter, resume to musicdirector@centralucc.org |
