Pilgrimage United Church of Christ identifies its primary mission to be one of extravagant welcoming, one that offers the message of God’s love to everyone, wherever we are on life’s journey. This to us is radical hospitality. Our church’s mission statement affirms: We seek to grow in worship, learning, and service as a faithful people of God, bringing hope, comfort and friendship to all, welcoming everyone in Christ. As an 'ONA' Congregation, we look forward to continuing our commitment to increasing the diversity of our congregation. We hold a broad view of diversity that includes ethnicity, race, economic, age, etc. We want to grow our church community so that all its members can grow together through the sharing of our individual and collective spiritual gifts. Not only do we want to be a presence in the surrounding community, we want to grow within as a faith community and participate as a presence in initiatives that are socially just. What will we look like when we get there? Our church is physically located atop a hill along a major thoroughfare in Marietta, Georgia; additionally, the “church on the hill” is a metaphor for our identity. We are excited that this journey offers the possibility for the physical and metaphorical identities to be aligned. Therefore, we are seeking a pastor who will be deeply invested in being a part of the community, committed to working with us in developing creative ways to market our church so that all around us can see what we are so excited about! Our pastor will help expand our Christian Education for the spiritual formation for adults and youth. Our pastor will be excited about finding both church-wide and small group opportunities for fellowship and spiritual growth. We are seeking someone who can partner with us to develop and sustain programming that is interesting, inviting, and significant. We believe that God will call a pastor who will help us become the church God wants us to be. |
