Ministry Description |
As our current minister is retiring, First United Church of Christ in Hellertown, PA is seeking a full time minister. First Church is our spiritual home filled with love for God, Jesus, and each other. All are welcome - young, old, new members and those whose families have attended for generations, any race, or personal persuasion. The love you feel coming into our church has developed over the years through prayer, education, spiritual support received, tradition and service completed. As we prepared our church profile, we were reminded about how special our church is. We asked out congregation ‘What attracted you or keeps you coming to our church?’ The top answer was ‘The church family, the love and fellowship that exists here’. First Church has been part of the Hellertown community since 1870, when a German Reformed Church was formed in union with a local Lutheran congregation. As with many beginning congregations, the first services were held in a school house and town hall. In 1937, the present church was built near the center of Hellertown and added onto in 1955. We are aware that our congregation needs to faithfully embrace change to continue to grow and pursue its calling. We have faith that we can move into an exciting future, balancing change with maintaining many of our beautiful traditions that we value. We are seeking an exuberant leader to help us build our congregation with young families while catering to the existing congregation.
