FOR FULL CONSIDERATION, APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31, 2017. We are a congregation of spiritual seekers in a vibrant creative urban(ish) environment. We appreciate deep reflection and honest conversation, but we also like to make music, dance, and be fabulous. One of the ways in which we praise Jesus is with a very loud and fiercely holy annual Drag Gospel service. We welcome all people as God’s beloved: young or old, black or white, queer or straight, male or female, believing or doubting, or a little bit of each. We are grateful not only for our dramatic increase in membership, but also for our growth in diversity, our growth into families, our growth into strong mature lay leadership, and the growth of our impact as an example of progressive Christianity made visible in the world. We prayed to be brought to the Holy Spirit. In response, the Holy Spirit brought us to each other. We wonder at what we will become, energized to face the challenges before us. In particular, growing into our Program Size requires systemic changes to maintain the health of all aspects of our congregation. These include communication patterns, infrastructure, financial stability, ministry for our large and growing population of children, adult education, further development of lay leadership, and opportunities for deeper community. We must also retain the strong personal bond between pastor and congregation and further express our radical welcome to people from all walks of life. We look forward to calling the Lead Pastor who will walk with and guide us on this journey. |
