Ministry Description |
Pilgrim Congregational Church, the only UCC affiliate in the Chattanooga area, is searching for a full-time pastor to lead a vibrant, theologically progressive, Open and Affirming congregation. Our membership is about 150 people with an average Sunday attendance between 40-60. Our congregants are socially-minded, offering neighborhood assistance, a monthly food pantry, and aid to the nearby elementary school. We offer one service each Sunday, as well as adult and children’s Sunday school. We also offer additional services in accordance with the liturgical calendar. About a dozen members sing in our choir. Our services, including hymns accompanied by pipe organ, are fairly traditional, though we are open to other styles of worship. Pilgrim is searching for a theologically sound preacher, who is also dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and impactful in his or her actions and deeds. At the same time, our next pastor is someone who can lead our congregation with a sense of humor, humility, and flexibility. Finally, we seek someone who truly wishes to make a home of Chattanooga, a mid-size, affordable city that has experienced a remarkable urban renaissance in the last two decades. With the Tennessee River as its front yard and the Appalachian Mountains as its backyard, the city offers year-round cultural, recreational, and educational activities for individuals and families of all ages.
