Ministry Description |
St. Peter’s Union Church, Lynnville PA is actively searching for a half-time pastor to assume all pastoral duties of the church. We are a fairly small (est. 80 member) congregation, with 20-40 attending each Sunday. We are a rural church set on a picturesque knoll serving basically an agricultural community. Our members are either retired, have professional jobs, farm and/or have an off-farm secondary job.
St Peter's Church is an unique entity among the rural churches of the area. Services each Sunday are a relaxed blend of both the UCC and Lutheran liturgies led by one pastor. Our church body, in general, is older. However, we have an active SS and VBS. Generally our standards of worship incorporate both traditional and modern methodology and philosophy that has created a friendly and compassionate work and worship environment.
Lay leaders play an active and supportive role in all aspects of our church environment. We maintain a team concept with emphasis placed on being open, receptive and innovative while nurturing a congregational family concept.
The leader we are looking for must be comfortable with the framework as described above, yet still be strong enough to lead and guide our congregation to new and improved horizons. He/she must be willing to work closely with lay leaders to initiate an open and honest exchange of ideas and concerns. We are looking for an unpretentious, cooperative, flexible and hands-on approach. The applicant must be willing to be an active part of the community. Above all, he/she must be spirit-filled and preach God's word as in the Bible.
In conclusion, the relationship we are looking for with our new pastor must be a give-and-take approach. Emphasis must be placed on the shared responsibility of guiding our members and leading our church to new horizons.
